“Learned Life Lessons (Just Not the Syllabus 😌)”

🌟 The Year Everything Changed (Except My CGPA πŸ˜…)

— A 2nd Year College Recap
🏠 Settling In:-

Time flows like a storm. It feels like just yesterday when I walked into college for the first time . My mom and dad were with me, and I was crying so hard. It felt so embarrassing to recall  all those memories to write this blog at the end of 2nd year.

At the beginning, I didn`t know anyone. But now, I know so many people and I`m always excited to meet them.

🎒 College Life & Freedom:-

College really is like a roller coaster ride- you enjoy it, but there`s always some fear too. Especially for engineering students, it is the best phase of your life where you will learn a lot of things alongside the boring lectures.

You learn how to work under pressure, survive late night studies with coffee and instant noodles, and sometimes even pass exam with just one night study.

Pro tip: The night before exams has magical powers. Suddenly, everything makes senseπŸ˜‡.

What I like the most is freedom - skipping boring lecture to do something productive and attending the ones that truly interest me. After 1st year, you are not really forced to attend everything. Its okay if you don't have 75% attendance, you will still be allowed to write your semester exams (unless you’re very unlucky πŸ˜…).

πŸ“š Academics & Labs:-

Every semester, you will get around 25+ new subjects with credits. You only need to focus on the core subjects or the one with higher credit points to maintain your CGPA. There will be some non-credited subjects, so you don`t need to focus on them.

Lab classes are something that I wouldn`t recommend missing. Your lab performance will be evaluated every day, and based on that, 50% of your marks will be assigned.

And let’s be honest, half of the lab report is “Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V” from the topper’s file😝.

πŸ’» Projects & Development:-

And the most important thing is your semester projects. In my case, I had 1 major project and some subject-wise projects. You will need a solid team who knows things, to make projects and do presentations. Although it`s not very hard, you will learn to manage this as well.

What you should do is development - learn some language and one domain that interests you the most, like AI, ML, Web Dev, Gaming, Robotics, etc. This is important and will reduce your 3rd year pressure.

πŸ’‘ Lessons & Final Thoughts:-

Basically, 2nd year will fly by- so fast, you don`t even realize it. Because you have a group of friends, many plans with them, and you are still exploring things. You only need to attend the important lectures because you can`t understand all professor`s lectures. At the end of the day, you will study everything from YouTube.

Last but not the least- don`t take yourself too seriously.

You are not making rockets.

Just try to balance your time, which is honestly hard- but I am sure you can do it.

And if you can't… just remember: next sem is a fresh start (again)πŸ˜†.
